Decorate Your Small Bedroom With Beach Bedroom Decor

Even if your bedroom is small, you can make it a peaceful and serene retreat at the end of the day. Consider decorating with a beach bedroom theme. You don’t have to literally bring the beach indoors, but take a few cues from its color palette and texture.

First, consider your bedroom’s color scheme. Does it remind you of relaxing at the beach? Most likely not. Beaches feature natural colors such as beige, white, green and several shades of blue from cerulean to deep, purple blue. The easiest way to incorporate a beach color scheme into your bedroom design is to paint your walls beige and use blue and green as your accent colors. Accent colors make their appearance in the form of window curtains, bedspreads, throw pillows and wall art. If you feel more bold, paint your walls a soothing blue, and to balance them install beige flooring and bedspreads – two of the largest surfaces in the room.

Now that you’ve set the scene with soothing shades that recall the beach and ocean, add a few details that more directly reference your beach theme. Display a bottle of sand from your last trip to the beach in an attractive vase. Collect a few eccentric seashells to sit out separately on your dresser or display in a colored glass dish. To add height to the room, place some dried sea grasses in a tall, ceramic vase.

Finally, you should emphasize the amount of natural light that enters your bedroom to really evoke the feeling of lounging on a beach. Install sheer white curtains instead of heavy drapes, and tie them back during the day so you don’t have to rely on artificial lighting, which also saves on your energy bill. To make your room feel extra-relaxing, light a few candles with theme-appropriate scents like “linen” or “seabreeze.” Cue up your mp3 player to wash your room in ocean sounds. Your small bedroom has now been transformed into your own private stretch of beach.
