With so many pregnancy pillows to choose from it might be difficult to decide which one is best for you. The pregnancy body pillow like the Snoogle Total Body Pillow by Leachco is very popular, but may not necessarily be the best option for you. It is very useful in that it allows you to use only one pillow instead of situating an assortment of pillows every time you lie down, roll over, or come back from one of many nightly trips to the restroom. It provides all over support for the many areas needed during pregnancy. I used this pillow during my first pregnancy, but later started using a Tempurpedic memory foam neck pillow. During my second pregnancy this body pillow didn’t work at all for me in regards to neck support. I had grown accustomed to using memory foam and so I had to search out other options

The best pregnancy pillow is whichever one works best for you and suits your needs. In fact, it may not be a pregnancy pillow at all, but instead your everyday head and neck pillow combined with a standard body pillow to cozy up to. An example would be the straight non-maternity body pillow that you can find just about anywhere. Personally, I found the pregnancy wedge to be the best maternity pillow for me; I loved it and used it throughout both of my pregnancies. My first was a boy and my belly stuck straight out in front of me. I felt so much better when I had a little bit of support underneath of him. This pillow is small, affordable and useful. With my daughter I carried wide and didn’t need the stomach support early on like I did with my son, but still found many uses for this pillow. My favorite position for the pillow was to stick it underneath my hip on one side so I could sleep almost on my back, but with enough tilt to keep the pressure off of the vena cava and blood flow. Of course, it’s best to try to sleep on your side if at all possible. The wedge I have is the Especially for Mom Pregnancy Pillow. I bought it from Babies R Us for about $12.00. It’s similar to the Boppy Pregnancy Wedge, which might be a little easier to find, particularly if you don’t have a Babies R Us retail outlet near you.

If you use a standard neck pillow, I highly recommend shelling out the money for a full body pillow. Even if you decide you don’t like it, you can find uses for it once the baby is born. If you are stubborn about what neck pillow you use and even take it with you while traveling, then go with a wedge at the bare minimum and likely a standard body pillow as well.
