Kids beds are one of the many important considerations when planning or redecorating a child’s bedroom. Children can feel lost and unsafe in a bed that is too big, especially when they are first moved out of their cot or parent’s bed. Ideally, you want to choose a bed that is adjustable to grow with the child. Safety features are also important such as barriers to stop your kid from rolling out of bed.
You will probably first want to consider a bed for your toddler when they are about two years old. Every child is different and some babies may be happier in their cots for a longer period of time or want to be out sooner. Generally, if your baby is trying to get out of the cot himself and attempting to climb the bars, this can be dangerous and means that they should make the move to a toddler bed.
Beds for children come in different sizes and a toddler bed is the first and smallest bed you will be buying. Toddler beds are usually not much bigger than a cot, but have lower sides allowing your child to climb out on his own if he wishes. Some beds for toddlers are extendable or have removable sections, allowing you to increase the length of the bed as your son or daughter grows.
Once your child has outgrown his toddler bed, you will need to either extend it if possible, or buy a new one. Children’s beds come in a wide range of funky styles for boys and girls so you can choose one to suit the interests of your child. Any little boy will love going to sleep in a racing car bed or maybe your little girl will prefer one styled to look like a fairy castle.
There are some great kids beds available now from larger furniture stores and specialist children’s shops so there is no shortage of options when it comes to choosing kids beds.
