Does the variety of kids beds confuse you? Don’t worry – that happens to a lot of first-time parents. There are so many things to get to familiarize yourself with when you are expecting a child, and a bed is just one of them.
Of course, actual beds are not suited to infants. But even that is good to know! When your child outgrows its crib however, there are a few things to consider when you decide on a kids bed. First of all, a bed is not just a bed. Sure, it is meant for the child to sleep in, but as more experienced parents will know, it will be used for other things as well. I certainly remember being a kid myself and using my bed as a place to play constantly. I had a thing with spaceships, and it didn’t take much for me to imagine that my bed was a rocket to Mars or Venus. This is actually a general tendency and you can see it on all the kids beds designed to look like hoses, race cars, etc. Kids like to play in their beds!
Some of the coolest beds in my opinion,are kids loft beds. These are kind of like bunk beds, except they often only have a top bunk, with the space beneath used for things like storage, a desk or an area for play. They can be outfitted with a slide, colorful illustrations and other props, and at the same time meet your needs to, by providing storage for many of your child’s things. A good bed can really be the centerpiece in your child’s room.
Never forget that safety comes first though. There can not be any places where little fingers, arms or heads could get stuck, no sharp protruding screws or bolts, and it should be solidly built – especially kids bunk beds and loft beds. With all these things taken into consideration, you as a parent have done the very best you can to ensure the sleep and safety of your child.
