Standard Depth Walk-In Handicap Bathtubs

Most handicap bathtubs are made to be taller than a regular tub as this allows the person to have a fully submerged bath while at the same time providing easy access to the tub. However, you can also buy handicapped bath tubs that are the same size and depth as regular bathtubs. What are the advantages to a standard depth handicapped bathtub and why should you consider buying one?

Firstly, most deep walk-in handicapped bathtubs are not as long as a regular bath tub which means they’re not suitable for people that want to be able to fully stretch out and relax. Deep bath tubs usually come with a chair instead of allowing the person to lie down. This is a major advantage of a standard depth handicap bathtub because they allow the person to have a regular bath without making it difficult to access the tub.

Another big advantage of a standard depth tub is that they’ll fit into the same space as the existing bath. If you already have a bath tub then replacing it with one that’s the same size will be a lot easier. Deep walk-in bathtubs are usually a different shape and size which makes them more difficult to fit into the existing design of a bathroom.

However, the main disadvantage is that a standard depth walk-in bathtub will generally be more expensive. You need to work out exactly how much you want to spend on a new bathtub before deciding which one is right for you. Easy access to the tub and independence are the two most important factors but you also need to consider your budget. If you have the money and prefer to lie down while having a bath rather than sitting up on a chair or using handicapped showers then a standard depth walk-in handicap bathtub may be the perfect option for you.
