Eyelet Curtains Give the Room Style

Looking for a contemporary alternative to the more traditional curtains strung on a curtain rail? If so, you may want to consider the look and pleat design that you will get with eyelet curtains. This kind of curtain will require a curtain rod and you will have to ensure that the rod you use is thin enough to fit the eyelets in the curtain of choice.

This is a small consideration because most people will buy their eyelet curtains complete with the curtain rod. However the choice of adding your own custom designed curtain rod, perhaps it’s unusually long or you want specially made finials added to the ends, may mean that you buy them separately.

One of the larger considerations that you will have to take into account if you are ordering your eyelet curtains to be made for you is how the measurements should be taken. When you measure up for the curtains you should take the measurement from the top of the curtain rod down to where you wish the curtain to fall to. Then you should add a further 3cm to your measurement. The extra 3cm is the length in which the curtain rises above the curtain pole.

Eyelet curtains are striking and subtly different to other types of curtains. The pleats are large and even and create a solid background in any room. They are an easy type of curtain to make at home if you wish to give it a try. The only difficult part will be the positioning of the eyelet rings in the heading, but as long as you have done the proper measurements before starting there shouldn’t be too much that can go wrong.

The most common type of fabric used for an eyelet curtain is one that is on the lighter weight side due to the potential drag effect that could cause the fabric to sag. Also there is a chance that a heavier fabric will result in tears around the eyelet holes.

Eyelet curtains are a great option in either a contemporary or traditional setting. The pleats provide form and strong appeal and the curtains run easily over the curtain rod making them a breeze to open or close.
