Fill the Void with a Console Table

Decorating your home can be one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever do, yet it can also be one of the most costly and challenging undertakings you’re likely to encounter. While there are a variety of different options to utilize when decorating a room, it seems there is always a portion of the room that somehow seems barren or incomplete. Perhaps it’s a certain corner or a long stretch of wall that stands out from the rest of the room. You need something to break up the empty space so that the entire room feels complete. For this job, there is likely no better solution than the use of a console table, which can provide elegance and a sense of style to just about any room in your house.

Console tables are just like any other table in that they are typically constructed using four legs and a top. Although the legs are commonly slender and plain, they can also contain intricate detail and carving depending on your preference. The top can be constructed from a variety of woods including oak, pine, maple and ash. In addition to wood, console table tops can also be constructed using metal or decorative tiles. Some of the nicest tables we’ve come across feature slate inlays that provide somewhat of a rustic feel. An oak console table can also look great if you happen to have other oak furniture pieces or oak trim throughout your home. Many console tables also feature built in drawers for storing a variety of different items such as car keys, writing instruments and even your collection of miscellaneous knick knacks.

Perhaps the most common area for placing a console table is in an entryway or foyer, as the table provides both fashion and function in this location. When placed near the main door of a home, a console table can be a convenient place for storing car keys and other small items that are frequently taken in and out of the home. Another popular option is the placement of potted plants on console tables, which makes the room feel softer and more alive. Also consider placing a console table in a long narrow hallway where natural light is lacking. The placement of a nice table lamp can really boost the look and feel of this otherwise barren section of your home.

Console tables can be purchased online or through your local furniture dealer. Prices for console tables vary widely based on the material used for construction, so be sure to shop around. We’ve found that the average price for a quality wooden console table is between $200 and $300, though there are certainly tables priced well below and above this amount, making it possible for nearly anyone to take advantage of this unique and highly functional piece of furniture. Apart from a console table, you might also consider purchasing a Mahogany Desk, which will attract attention and last for years if properly taken care of.
