When you are decorating a room for a small child, you don’t want it to look like a room for an adult. Part of decorating for children is learning to use appropriate accessories, such as childrens curtains. These curtains can be one of many different themes and choosing a set may seem difficult at first.
Some curtains come with cartoon themes on them. While it is best not to mix and match cartoon themes in a bedroom, you also need to make sure that you are not covering the entire room in the theme. For instance, you should not decorate a child’s room using Sponge Bob bedding, rugs, curtains, lamps and throw pillows. This is way too much and over the top. Limit the cartoon theme to one accessory or two at the most.
Another popular style of curtains for children is short curtain or valance. These are much better for a child’s room since you do not have to worry about small children getting tangled in them or pulling them from the wall. You also do not have to move them out of the way when cleaning the floor. This style is very practical for a child’s room.
One other thing that you should consider is the durability of the curtains. Though your child will not be using these curtains for a large number of years, they should still be well made and be able to stand up to the wear and tear that they might encounter in the room of a child. Remember to find curtains that are washable, since your child might love to paint or put glue on them.
Be creative when choosing curtain rods for a child’s room. For instance, instead of using regular curtain rods for a princess room, you could use long wands with streamers on the ends. For a baseball room, you could use curtain rods shaped like bats. Think fun and creativity when you are deciding on the curtain rods.
By taking all these things into consideration, you should be able to find curtains and curtain rods that will decorate your child’s room perfectly. Remember to stay away from anything too trendy that is likely to go out of style in less than a year. Keep an eye on the length of the curtains and choose creative and fun curtains. Your child will be delighted and amazed with the result.
