Chandeliers have a lovely romantic feel to them that applies whether your chandelier is one of those made of cut glass and crystal or a plain one bedecked with little chandelier light shades. If you have the crystal type, all you need to do is to get it installed by an electrician and you are done. On the other hand, if you have the other type you have to choose a set of mini lamp shades too. Even if your chandelier comes with shades you may want to consider buying new ones (as long as your budget can stand it). Most lights come with very plain shades yet your bedroom would probably benefit from something that is more stylish. If funds are low you can always make do with the plain shades at first, and then change them once you have a bit of spare cash. The shades are generally easy to change as they just clip onto the light.
So what should you choose if money is no object?
Well, there are some beautiful beaded chandelier lamp shades which are wonderful for bedrooms. These are generally made of silk and have beading around the edges or bead fringing. The beads tend to catch the light which gives them the edge over non beaded shades. Alternatively, you could choose colored silk shades in a color which matches your bedroom color scheme. The silk fabric has a rich sheen which looks good with the light from the chandelier. The most important thing is that you choose something delicate and rich looking rather than something that looks merely serviceable and plain. One idea if you can’t afford new shades is to decorate the ones you have with your own trimmings. You can buy suitable braid, beading etc in department stores and attach it with a glue gun to make something perfect for your bedroom as well as unique.
