Bedroom Black Mold Removal

The bedroom is probably one of the most relaxing places in your home, well at least it better be, since that is where you sleep and lay your head down at night. Since you spend a good part of your day in the bedroom, making sure that there is nothing wrong in there is key. One of the issues that can creep up in bedrooms is black mold and that is something that you’ll definitely want to take care of quickly. Black mold, otherwise known as mildew, can grow in spots that are dark, moist, and unventilated. Although most spots in the bedroom don’t fall under that category (unless you have a water leak or spill) there is one trouble spot. Since the blinds are often left closed by some people, moisture can accumulate, and since the blinds create darkness, the window sill is often home to black mold problems.

Luckily, there are ways for the average home owner to be able to do black mold removal on their own, if the situation has not got out of hand. If you think your black mold problem has grown into a large problem, then you’ll definitely want to call the professionals and have them take a look. But, if it’s small, you can definitely remove the mold yourself.

You’ll want to go to the grocery store or hardware store and find a specialized mold or mildew remover. Make sure that it works for black mold, but most of them do these days. Bleach won’t work, instead it’ll make the problem worse, so just purchase the mildew cleaner. Then, with a wash cloth or sponge, get the mold area damp.  If it is dry and you start to scrub, the spores will be released into ethe air and you can breath them in, causing you respiratory problems. Then, just follow the directions on the cleaner, but they’ll probably just say to spray it down, let it soak in for a few, then scrub briskly to remove the mold.
